Food Safety Tool

The Food Standards Agency in Scotland have developed a new free web tool so businesses, smoked fish producers in particular, can assess their current processes to reduce the risk of contamination by Listeria monocytogenes.

Listeria monocytogenes can be found in the production areas of manufacturers of chilled ready to eat foods and by following best practice, producers of these foods can reduce the risk of contamination of their products.

This tool will take you through a series of questions and answers to help you determine if you are following best practice, or if there are areas where you can improve.

The tool has been designed for smoked fish producers, but it is freely available to any interested parties, and it can be completed anonymously if desired.

The tool can be accessed on the Food Standards Agency website www.food.gov.uk/safesmokedfish
