The Scottish Rural Development Programme's new Food Processing, Marketing and Co-operation grant scheme is now open for applications for capital related projects. The scheme will allocate £70 to projects that fit its criteria between now and 2020. It's sister grant scheme for non-capital and non-cooperation projects will open later this year.
The key purpose of the SRDP 2014 - 2020 is to help sustainable economic growth in Scotland’s rural areas. The main priorities are:
- Enhancing the rural economy
- Supporting agricultural and foresrty businesses
- Protecting and improving the natural environment
- Addressing the impact of climate change
- Supporting rural communities

Also open for applications is the Rural Development: Knowledge Transfer and Innovation Fund (KTIF), the successor to the Skills Development Scheme, which is worth £12 million over the course of the new SRDP.
