Edinburgh Food Festival is a new event, taking place from Wednesday 29th July to Sunday 2nd August 2015 from 12pm-1am (Wednesday and Thursday) and 12pm-2am (Friday to Sunday). It will use the infrastructure of the Assembly George Square Gardens site including the two Flemish Circus spaces Spiegeltent Palazzo and The Bosco.
Applications from producers are sought. In particular the festival is looking for producers that fit with the Year of Food & Drink themes for July and August - berries and dairy. However, more important is that traders 'promote Scotland's natural larder'. The festival is aiming to be less commercial than other city based food festivals, and is hoping to showcase the very best Scotland has to offer, including new businesses.
To help make this festival accessible to aritsans and small businesses, rather than a stall fee the organisers are operating on a commission basis of 17% +VAT of daily income.
There will be street food vendors in the Gardens plus a dedicated covered Market for producers in the Spiegeltent. Application forms for both street vendors and producers can be found here: www.edfoodfest.com
The festival will comprise a full programme of events, talks, live cooking demonstrations and entertainment.
