With a vision of creating the largest food and drink fair in southern Scotland, Castle Douglas Food Town has been awarded funding by the Community Food Fund to stage an event showcasing Dumfries & Galloway's artisan food and drink. This event is in addition to the Food Town’s normal programme of events, including Food Town Day on Saturday 7th June.
The provisional date for the food and drink fair is Thursday 11th September. The event will include the creation of a marquee village where a large number of producers will be invited to participate. The marquee village will be located on Market Hill and additional attractions and entertainment will include hog roasts and other take away and sit down areas for food and drink provided by businesses in Castle Douglas, children's rides, live music and other entertainment.
Marketing will take place in local radio and print media, and a printed programme of events will include details of all participating producers.
Stall costs will be £30. Advertising in the programme will also be available at an additional cost, rates TBC.
