Going for Growth: D&G Business Week 2016

Event Date:
Monday 3rd October, 2016 (All day) to Saturday 8th October, 2016 (All day)
Event Organisers:
Dumfries and Galloway Council

Dumfries and Galloway's Business Week has a growth theme this year, and as well as our tasty food and drink event on the 4th October, there are many other events that are likely to appeal to Dumfries & Galloway food and drink and related businesses.

Here are a few highlights:

5th October:  Business Development Day
Time: 14.00 to 20.00
Venue: Park House, Cairndale Hotel, English St, Dumfries DG1 2DF

A full day of events including trade stands, informative seminars, one to one networking events and digital exhibits. The format for the event will include two seminar rooms and a main exhibition area. The first seminar room will focus on how to safeguard your intellectual assets, support for exporting and how your business can be more innovative. The second seminar room will include a Digital Boost workshop on E-commerce and one on Facebook for Business.

Attendees will also be able to experience Helson and Jackets’ award winning innovative 3D 360 degree holographic video technology as seen on Channel 5’s the Gadget Show. This exhibit was a Scottish Edge Winner in 2015 and is an invention from a company based in Dumfries and Galloway.

6th Oct:  Let’s Get Digital
Time: 18.30 to 21.00
Venue: The Usual Place, Dumfries, Academy St, Dumfries DG1 1BZ

This event clashes with our food and drink event, but if you can't make it to Carsluith you might find this inspiring.  Essentially this is an introduction to digital marketing - aimed mainly at those businesses who aren't confident about digital communication. It will be jargon free and is suitable for complete technology beginners.

Fri 7th Oct: How to grow your business beyond Scotland
Time: 09.00 to 11.00
Venue: Solway House, Tinwald Downs Road, Heathall, Dumfries, DG2 3RS

This is aimed at businesses who want to start trading internationally and it's hosted by Scottish Development International (SDI).  Companies attending the forum will get the chance to:
• Understand the importance of preparation and planning before embarking on international growth
• Learn about the broad range of support available to companies from SDI
• Share experiences, concerns, challenges and opportunities with like-minded business leaders in your area
• The role of marketing in your business

There is also the opportunity of one-to-one meetings with international trade advisers following the forum.

The full programme of events for Business Week 2016 can be downloaded from Resources.  Full details of how to book each event is listed within the brochure.
