A number of businesses have recently expressed an interest in SALSA accreditation. Dumfries and Galloway Council are therefore organising an Introduction to SALSA workshop.
SALSA is a food-safety standard written to reflect both the legal requirements of producers and the enhanced expectations of 'best practice' of professional food buyers. It is designed to provide affordable food safety assurance certification and support for small and micro businesses in the United Kingdom. SALSA is increasingly looked for by buyers and wholesalers as a minimum standard, so if you have an interest in upscaling volume or targetting retail multiples, it is strongly advised that you find out more about becoming accredited.
The workshop is scheduled for Monday 31st July at Woodbank, Edinburgh Road, Dumfries. 1pm for a 1.30pm start, finishing around 4pm. It is being led by Liz Fraser, a locally based independent food auditor, including SALSA auditing and mentoring.
Tea and coffee will be provided. The workshop will involve plenty of time for questions and discussion, so this is an excellent opportunity to find out more about whether SALSA accreditation is right for your business in a relatively informal way.
